In ABA, we know something simple that makes a massive impact: kids thrive when we notice what they’re doing right.

Using a 4:1 praise ratio means offering four positive, specific pieces of praise for every one correction. Not only does it strengthen desired behaviors, it also builds trust, confidence, and connection.

✨ What it looks like in session:
• “I love how you’re sitting so calmly.”
• “Great job starting your work right away.”
• “You asked for help so nicely!”
• “Thanks for cleaning up when I asked.”

Then, if needed, one gentle correction.

The goal isn’t perfection. It’s creating an environment where our learners feel noticed, supported, and safe to try. When we lead with positivity, everything else follows.
